Complete Bagpipe Re-Hemping

Over time hemp can deteriorate, unravel, get too waxy, or become uneven. Fresh hemp not only looks nice, but is cleaner and can allow for easier tuning. We can remove all of your old hemp and apply fresh hemp, making sure the hemp doesn't slip and that all the pieces fit well when they leave the shop. The standard wrap will be with two strands simultaneously: 1 of waxed yellow hemp, and 1 of plain yellow hemp. We find that this blend offers nice compression, without becoming too slick. You can choose another type of hemp for no additional charge. After a few months, depending on climate and playing time, you'll generally need to apply a few additional windings of hemp, which compacts over time. For this service you would need to ship the entire bagpipe, so we can check the fit in the stocks.
