Bagpipe Hemp & Wax
Hemp and wax are essential to maintaining your pipes and ensuring they are efficient. Joints need to be airtight, but drone joints need to turn smoothly for tuning. Waxed and unwaxed hemp have different properties, and various waxes are more or less tacky. Unwaxed hemp will absorb moisture but compresses less quickly. Waxed hemp compresses quickly but is more resistant to moisture. A 2-strand mix can be great on drones. But use waxed hemp in high-moisture areas, like the blowpipe. Have maintenance questions?
